Cumberland, Maryland

Cumberland, a city located in Western Maryland with an estimated population of 21,591 (2000 census). The city is located on the banks of the Potomac River and Wills Creek in Allegany County. Within the city you can use an extensive bus line system, which consists of five scheduled routes that reach most of the city's areas. There is also a train system (Amtrak) which connects the city to Washington DC to Chicago IL.
There are some favorite tourist spots in Cumberland, you can visit the Canal Place, Rocky Gap State Park and the New Embassy Theatre. There are many annual events, such as the Heritage Day Festival, Sunday in the Park, Allegany County Fair and Expo and the Tri-State Concert Series.
Drive out of Cumberland on the 40W heading towards LaVale to see the lights that are arranged to appear as an outline of the United States.
